The Museo Civico Medievale dedicates an exhibition to Lippo di Dalmasio, an artist active at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries between Bologna and Tuscany.
Through paintings, sculptures and illuminated manuscripts, the exhibition reconstructs the painter's activity from his training in Tuscan soil to his most prestigious commissions in late 14th-century Bologna.
Despite the stereotypical image of a devout painter of Madonnas with Child, due to the narrative of the Counter-Reformation, Lippo di Dalmasio's art is varied: the artist is active in the San Petronio building site, creates important public works, and holds prestigious commissions.
The exhibition is curated by Massimo Medica and Fabio Massaccesi.
Special mediation activity at the exhibition:
Every Wednesday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., for the duration of the exhibition, a cultural mediator will be present in the exhibition at the disposal of the public to provide information and insights into the contents.
