Thollem McDonas brings to Bologna

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Voice (CRIV) is thrilled to welcome Thollem McDonas, an internationally renowned American musician, for an artistic residency as part of the "Research in Residence" program.

The artist will lead a workshop titled "Fronteras Assembled" on Saturday, April 5th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, followed by a duo concert with Francesco Venturi on Sunday, April 6th at 11:30 AM.

The "Fronteras Assembled" workshop draws inspiration from McDonas's work with Estamos Ensemble (USA/Mexico) and his previous workshops on listening and improvisation. It consists of structured collaborations based on the social and political dynamics of geopolitical borders, musical meditations on situations that constantly influence how we perceive and interact with our fellow humans within and across the world's borders. The creative process proposed by McDonas generates unique musical challenges that invariably lead to new revelations and inspirations about sound and collective exploration. During the workshop, the artist will be joined by Francesco Venturi as a co-facilitator of the vocal work. The experience is open to everyone regardless of previous musical experiences or training, and welcomes participants from 14 years of age and up.
