On 16 November 2023 at 9 p.m. , the Cappella Musicale Arcivescovile di S. Maria dei Servi will host a special commemorative concert to open Bologna's November events for the elimination of violence against women.
Mozart's famous and unfinished Requiem has been chosen, a classic in the Cappella Musicale's repertoire that has been performed several times for philanthropic purposes in the beautiful and grand Basilica of Strada Maggiore.
This beautiful musical page will be performed to shine the spotlight on the daily tragedy of feminicides, which in Italy, in 2023 alone, rose to 97 (figure updated on 03/11/23), an average of one woman every three days. The concert also wants to be an opportunity to inform citizens about the network of services available to women and the initiatives in the area of Bologna promoted by the institutions for prevention and protection.
Soloists Carlo Colombara, Elena Borin, Claudia Marchi, Rocco Speranza, organist Roberto Cavrini, and Choir and Instrumentalists of the Archiepiscopal Chapel of the Servants will be conducted by Maestro Lorenzo Bizzarri.
The evening was organised in collaboration with Dr. Simona Lembi (Metropolitan City of Bologna), Dr. Milena Pilati (Emilia Romagna Region), Dr. Loretta Michelini (Mondo Donna Onlus - Sportello Chiama), Dr. Silvana Fusari (PMG-Italia) and the Liceo Artistico F. Arcangeli of Bologna. Special thanks to 3Q and 5E1 sculpture classes, led by Professors Barbara Burgio and Maria Savoldi under the chairmanship of Prof. M. Grazia Diana, for the creation of installations with the symbolic red shoes that will be displayed in the Basilica during the evening.
