On Friday 2 May 2025 at 8.30 p.m. at the PalaDozza in Bologna, conductor Riccardo Muti will perform with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
It has been 53 years since Riccardo Muti, invited by Herbert von Karajan, first stepped onto the podium of the Berliner. Since then, his meetings with the Berliner professors have been constant.
‘I brought many things with me from my first meeting with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Things that have contributed to my musical education and are still an integral part of my artistic identity today.’
In Bologna, Muti brings a programme that perfectly reflects his two musical souls: Italian and German. On one side a ‘miniature opera’ such as the Overture from Rossini's Guillaume Tell and an ‘opera within the opera’ such as the ballabili from Verdi's I vespri siciliani, on the other the subdued singing and dark colours of Brahms' Second Symphony.
PROGRAMME:
Gioachino Rossini
Ouverture dal Guglielmo Tell
Giuseppe Verdi
Le quattro stagioni (ballabili atto terzo) da I vespri siciliani
Johannes Brahms
Sinfonia n.2 in re maggiore op.73
