Piazza Maggiore - Indipendenza
On February 1st, Cinema Modernissimo will screen "Tehachapi," a film that tells the story of a California maximum-security prison after which the film is named. Here, French street artist JR brings to life a photography program where he directly involves inmates but also family members, guards and crime survivors.
His art thus finds new interpretations: he devotes himself to the representation of ordinary people, the redevelopment of non-places, and the rehabilitation of people who in turn learn to see themselves differently.
It is a film that begs the question of whether art can really change the world and how it can change people.
